This year has seen:
A first dance to a brass band in the car park when receptions weren’t allowed // elbow bumps and kisses blown // a wedding planned in three days to get in before November Lockdown 2.0 // face masks for guests hastily made to match outfits // a wedding allowed to have 30 guests with only a day to spare // champagne toasts from a car boot in a lay-by following a ceremony in Tier 3 // sanitiser table favours // would-have-been wedding guests waiting outside ceremonies to show their love from a distance // Zoom and Facebook broadcasts from church..
It’s been love and magic against all odds.
Read MoreI never expected to shoot a first dance in a church car park with a travelling brass band but I guess 2020 is throwing all sort of weird stuff at us and nothing surprises me much these days.. Sophie and Matt married in Nunthorpe with probably the most beautiful views in Teesside. Their Blackthorn Gate wedding is postponed until next year but it didn’t stop them having a perfectly small wedding with their nearest and dearest followed by a distanced dance-off.
Read MoreOh my goodness.. actually coming out of what felt like hibernation and shooting an actual wedding felt like such a dream. Jennifer and Paul married in Yarm with only immediate family before heading down the beautiful cobbled streets to nearby Italian deli Borellis for a toast outside in the sunshine. It was intimate, relaxed, full of love and laughter, and just the most special small wedding day.
Read MoreEddie and Tina married 2 years ago last month (they’ve since brought beautiful Vincent William into the world - the most beautiful blue-eyed boy..) They giggled and smiled all the way through their vows, said I do, came out of the church to be covered in confetti, escaped to their transport under umbrellas during an April shower, hugged, kissed and loved everyone who came to celebrate them and then partied HARD into the night.

The colour, the style, what she has managed to capture - all of it is perfect. She managed to get both of us (who don’t really like having our picture taken) to look so happy and comfortable…..
Read MoreSo! I thought today would be a good day to share something that feels a little more normal before the world turned upside down and we went into lockdown.. Ashleigh and Richard’s day at the Fig House at Middleton Lodge was the last wedding that I shot in February before everything changed.. I didn't know it'd be my last wedding for a while and now I can’t help but think back to such a gorgeous day with everyone hugging and kissing and loving freely like we all hope to again soon.
Read MoreYou have done such a great job (we knew you would) and captured the day perfectly. The attention to detail and thought that went into the photos is amazing. Also, being a couple that don't much like having their photo taken, we barely noticed you there on the day and you were great at putting us at ease and keeping it informal with the couple shots which have also surpassed our expectations!
Read MoreAnother ‘Magic Seven’ post for you this fine Sunday! For these posts I select seven favourite images that I feel tell the story of a wedding or are snippets of the day that I just loved.. and this time it’s Kate and Joe’s fabulous and colourful Ormesby Hall wedding in Teesside.
Read MoreWith the start of a new decade I thought it could be fun to dig back through old archives and do a ten year post! Strictly speaking, I shot my first wedding in 2011 not 2010, but I registered my business at the end of 2010 so I guess it sort of counts?
Read More“I found Sally through a friend. Years ago I saw her stop motion video and it brought me to tears it was that beautiful! I said from that moment when I get married we’re having her, and we did! Thank you Sally for being fabulous!”
Read MoreIt was so good to be back at the beautiful Fig House on the Middleton Lodge estate in North Yorkshire for Ashleigh and Richard’s wedding. These two were joined by their wonderful girl Evangeline, who was a real whirlwind of fun all day and the fact that this day was about the three of them as a family really added something extra-special to the day.
Read MoreFor 2020 I thought I would start a new mini series of ‘inspiration’ blog posts. I see such beautiful ideas come to life at weddings and I really felt it was a shame not to showcase some of them, support and show off some local venues and suppliers and to get some extra wedding inspiration out into the world!
