It gives me great pleasure to finally share Hannah and Dan’s stop motion film from their fabulous wedding at The Talbot/York House in North Yorkshire last October. What a wedding..

Ashley and Richard - what a fab start to 2020!

These two were a pleasure to hang out with all day for their relaxed Engine Shed wedding in Wetherby - it was all right up my street! I hadn’t shot at the Engine Shed before - it’s a fab old industrial venue in Wetherby and I loved the look of the place. Ashley and Richard told me it just felt very ‘them’ more than some of the ‘grander’ wedding venues out there, and they’d had styled it up beautiful (I especially loved the neon!) and we managed to grab a few shots in the February sunshine as well before heading in for food and speeches.

Anyway! Here are some favourite shots from the day while I work through the rest - ‘til death do us party!

Hannah and Dan! What a laugher and fun-filled day.. my face actually hurt from smiling and laughing after your wedding!

Hannah and Dan married in Malton, saying ‘I do’ at the town centre church before walking down to the Talbot to celebrate afterwards. They held their reception in the house and then a marquee in the gardens which was styled beautiful with a mix of greenery, elegant touches and nods to Dan’s love of cricket. They danced the night away to a ceilidh (always the best idea IMO) - it was SO much fun and the perfect wedding to end my wedding season on.

Oh Katie and Dan! My heart is so full.

Katie and I met aged four in Primary school on our first day there. Somewhere further down the line she introduced me to Dan - a kind, intelligent and funny man that she’d already started building up a catalogue of raucous and hilarious stories together with.. They met within journalism circles through work and haven’t looked back. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for these two.

Katie and Dan, it was one of the most special days of my life being bridesmaid (can you spot me?) and documenting your incredible day.

Nadine and Chris’ wedding really was something else.. there was so, so much to capture and it was an absolute dream to shoot! A real mix of cultures, music and entertainment - from zaffa drummers to samba dancers..

They were lucky enough to have sunshine all day for their Hedsor House wedding, and guests mingled outside playing lawn games, drinking Aperol and taking in the incredible setting for their day.

2019 wedding season has officially begun! After a few months off from shooting it felt so good to get back into the swing of weddings, and the season started with a bang with the beautiful and relaxed celebration of Caroline and Steven for their Cleveland Tontine wedding.

For a different kind of blog post today, I thought I would share some of my favourite venues that I’ve worked at, starting with our own glorious Teesside and North Yorkshire. What I love most when working is how every day is different, and I love capturing a variety of venues over the months too - from barns to grand houses and halls, outdoor weddings to village halls.. I love mixing it up and I’ve been lucky enough to shoot at some beautiful places in this little corner of the UK.

If you’re not familiar with my ‘Magic Seven’ series, I dig back into the archives and uncover some of my favourite weddings from the past few years, and I select seven favourite images from each one and give it another ‘hurrah’ all these years later. I choose images that tell the story of the day or sum up the couple..

WHAT a wedding to finish the year with! Grace and Michael’s Rudby Hall wedding was absolutely wonderful and I cam away feeling so Christmassy - their was a really elegant Wintery celebration.

September is one of my favourite months for weddings.. it’s the end of Summer but still slightly to warm to declare it ‘Autumn’. Phillippa and Toby lucked out and had beautiful sunshine and light for their York House in Malton wedding. Phillippa’s parents married at the adjacent Talbot House and it was magical that she and Toby celebrated their nuptials there too.

On Sunday I travelled over to Cawthorne Park for an engagement shoot with Annie and Steven ahead of their November wedding. We braved the drizzle and wandered around this beautiful park, hunting out spots for photos while we chatted about their wedding plans. Here are a few favourites.. I can't wait for their November wedding!

Rosie and Tom had one of the most laid back and wonderfully unstructured days at the beautiful Tithe Barn in Nether Poppleton near York. They said their vows at the registry office in  York city centre before travelling in Land Rovers over to celebrate in style at this beautiful venue. They had covered it with flowers and candles, and guests mingled in the gardens, drinking cocktails and eating amazing BBQ food and had a wonderfully laid back Summer celebration. Here are a few previews from their beautiful day..

Well Saturday was EPIC. It was just the most laughter and love-filled day. Laura and Patrick know how to wedding and it was just perfect. Space hoppers, happy tears, limericks, amazing evening light, a glitter bar, wild ceilidh dancing.. and they topped it off by performing their own first dance song. I think the photos say more than I can.. step this way to see this amazing Aldby Park marquee wedding..

Holly and Jamie's York city centre wedding was just wonderful. They said their vows in St Deny's Church before walking up Fossgate to the Merchant Adventurer's Hall for their reception.

The forecast was for solid rain - ALL day.. but when they came out of the church the sun was shining and not a drop of rain fell until it was time for everyone to sit down for the meal - perfect timing and we all couldn't believe their luck!

Better late than never! (Oh god, *how* is it June, already?) This year has started flying by at a crazy speed, January and February shuffled by, and suddenly we're approaching the half way point! Here is what's been going on in March, April and May 'Behind the Curtain'..

The latest post for 'The Magic Seven' is the lovely Emma and Ben, who had their wedding at the Star Inn at Harome in North Yorkshire. They had their fabulous daughter Noa there (her reaction to them exchanging their rings obviously made it into this selection!) and she had a fabulous outfit, crafted by Emma herself.

Oh finally! Spring has arrived! And thank goodness, it's about time! I met up with Holly and Jamie for a pre-wedding shoot at Yorkshire Sculpture Park in West Yorkshire ahead of their York wedding in June. The sun came out, it was warm, and we had a lovely hour or so exploring all of the amazing areas of the park, looking for exciting spots for some photos. 

Today's 'Magic Seven' is Emma and Shaun! These two got married one hot May day at the beautiful and rustic York Maze - a quirky barn venue in North Yorkshire - and had their ceremony in a different barn next door (above); such a beautiful space to tie the knot. They chose York Maze because it's such a relaxed and chilled out venue and they could really personalise and put their own stamp on it.

It was fabulous to be back at The Star Inn at Harome and spend the day with these two.. Harri and Charlie are absolutely head-over-heels for each other and spent the whole day telling the other just how much they adored them. It was full of beautiful botanical details, dozens of paper lanterns, and a rainbow turned up at exactly the right moment, in exactly the right place that we could use it for a few couple portraits too.
