This is the latest in a series of personal travel posts following a trip I made with my daughter last month! Previous destinations are linked at the bottom of this blog post. and you can click through to see more about our travels on my family blog here.

Montreux was just heavenly.. Not the most lusted-after tourist spot in Switzerland, but just beautiful. It's a town set at the other end of Lake Geneva to Geneva itself, and our train between the two was just over an hour. The buildings were beautiful - some reminded me so much of The Grand Budapest Hotel - but when we arrived it was early evening, and although we could see lights twinkling in the mist over the lake, there wasn't much else to be seen because of the visibility. The next day it had lifted and it was just beautiful. I think I ran to the lake-side as soon as I saw the mountains that morning..

On the morning we took a walk around the lake to Chillon Castle, stopping far too often to take photos. I loved playing with relfections, and brought a 'crystal ball' to experiment with too, which you can see below. It was so peaceful walking around the water, it made me really itch to get up into the mountains properly and arrive in Zermatt. Montreux was a beautiful little stop before we travelled on.. so photogenic. Here are a selection of favourite images - the very last one was taken using a gorilla tripod and my mobile phone but I couldn't not include it in this post.

You can see my personal account of what we got up to in Montreux over on my family blog here.
