I want to create a set of photographs that bring you straight back into the heart of your wedding day; so you can remember how it felt, not just what it looked like.
I love to work with laid-back couples and weddings that are full of fun, heart and soul - I'm always looking to capture the everyday magic and I work hard to tell your story.
Hiring a photographer to hang out with you both all day is something you’ve probably never done before but I’m here to make the whole thing feel easy and relaxed. So many of my couples anticipate feeling a bit uncomfortable in front of the camera but after the day they say that they barely noticed me shooting and that I felt like another friend on the day. I’ll be sure to cover your wedding details, whizz through any group shots quickly (so you can get back to celebrating!), get some pictures of the two of you that really reflect who you are together, and I’ll blend in and capture all those important storytelling moments from the sidelines.
I’m here to fit in with your plans seamlessly to photograph all the big and small moments, details, emotions and joy that make your day personal and most importantly yours.
I’m a big believer that photography is all about people and I really like to get to know my couples..
We’ll have a chat about initial plans and I’d love to hear a bit more about you both, what makes you tick, how everything is going and what you’re most excited about. I’m always on hand for supplier recommendations or wedding planning advice along the way too.
Closer to your date we work together to go through your timings and how the day will run. We’ll go over the running order, all about the exciting things you’ve planned and any particular details that will help me be as prepared as possible on the day.
I want you both to feel like yourselves and completely comfortable on your wedding day - it’s how I’ll capture the most natural moments and means your coverage will feel easy and relaxed. There may be a small amount of gentle direction here and there but it’s much more ‘there is beautiful light in this spot’ than ‘stand there and say cheese’.
For full day coverage I meet you at pre-wedding prep a few hours before your ceremony to cover getting ready moments and details, and on the evening I leave when I feel I’ve captured enough dance floor action (it’s very possible that you’ll find me singing and dancing along with your guests..)
At some point we’ll go and get a few pictures of the two of you; I promise that they aren’t as awkward as you might expect. I’m looking to capture you both in a way that feels natural and reflects how you are together rather than anything too stiff and formal; it’s much more about taking a little bit of time away, just the two of you, and getting a few photos that you’ll love to look back on in years to come.
I love the big moments as much as the small ones; I’m always looking to tell the story of how the day actually was rather than direct anything too much. We’ll do a few important ‘mantlepiece’ photos but I promise not to make you stand in a line-ups for hours on end, and I will never keep you from your family and friends for too long - it’s just not my style.
Once the confetti settles I’ll send you over a few preview photos to keep you going while you wait for your full set; meaning you can get going with any thank you cards, print and share a few and use them to tell the world that you tied the knot.
The editing process takes around 6-8 weeks, after that you can expect to get a parcel in the post which will contain all your individually-retouched images on USB, a keepsake box and some prints. I’ll let you know when they’re on their way so you can get some fizz in the fridge and make a night of it.
Once you’ve seen your full set yourselves I’ll open your online gallery for you to share them with family and friends. You can go on to order a wedding album (if you haven’t already), and you can order your own prints and get them up on your walls. You’ll have full personal usage rights which gives you the freedom to print and share them with family and friends too.
HOW DO YOU WORK?
I work in a very unobtrusive and candid way.. I capture the majority of the day from the side lines and catch moments as they unfold. I like to know about you both, what makes you tick, and to take photographs that reflect you both and your personalities. At some point we'll do some formal shots, and we'll go for a wander for a few photographs of you both.. I love the little details that you've put together to make the day look wonderful, but I mainly love capturing people letting go, relaxing and enjoying themselves.
WHERE ARE YOU BASED?
I live in a small town in North Yorkshire but cover the entire UK and beyond. I love shooting weddings in new places, across the country and worldwide; I enjoy travelling for work every year and love that my job takes me everywhere. Travel expenses are included within the UK.
DO YOU DO DESTINATION WEDDINGS?
I do! I’ve been lucky enough to travel all over the world shooting weddings over the years. Pricing for destination weddings is bespoke and it will always include two nights basic accommodation and flights/travel. Get in touch for more details.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN DOING THIS?
I started my business in 2010 and built it up before going full time in 2013. I never expected that I’d work in weddings in the early days (such a big responsibility!), but once I was swept along in the joy and excitement of my first few I was completely hooked and now I can’t imagine doing anything else.
WE ARE REALLY CAMERA SHY..
Don’t worry! So many of my couples say the same. I’m frequently told that I’m very good at making people comfortable and feel at ease while I’m working. I won't be asking you to pose for hours on end, I generally look for natural moments over staged ones. What I will do at one point in the day is take you to a few spots for some artistic portraits and gently direct you to get the most out of this time so you get some beautiful shots of yourselves.. mainly I'm looking for the relationship between you both rather than anything overly stylised.
WHAT DOES A ‘FULL DAY’ COVER?
Typically I’ll get to you around two hours before your ceremony and straight through until the evening reception. This covers getting ready shots, ceremony, any group photos, couple portraits, any speeches and the first dance/a bit of your evening reception. I love to shoot the dance floor and get those high energy shots so I always stay for a few songs after your first dance too.
HOW DO WE KNOW IF YOU’RE A GOOD FIT FOR OUR WEDDING?
My work is about people, storytelling and celebration. I work in a relaxed way - most people say I feel like a friend on the day rather than someone you've employed.
